To my delight, Northridge Publishing had a call for artwork with a "vintage theme", right up my alley, right? If you know me you know I love "old" things, like postcards, photographs, lace, millinery flowers and ephemera. It was the perfect opportunity to use some of my new Authentique papers, some My Mind's Eye and some Webster's Pages blended with elements of days gone by. Here are a few of the pieces I've been working on.
These first two are vintage photo album pages that I converted into canvas wall frames... they both feature images cut from Webster's Pages papers and are embellished with vintage ribbons.
I have this picture of three of my great aunts, my grandmother and my great uncle as kids sitting on the porch of the house I grew up in. I love that picture... because I used to sit there, too. I printed it on canvas, made it look extra "vintagy". This layout uses fabric, My Mind's Eye papers and frame, vintage crocheted trim, a really great piece of lace and a few vintage buttons.
This next layout features a pic of one of my great-grandmothers, Naomi Pearl Berkibile. Wasn't she cute? I love using fabric in my artwork and here I used one piece and then cut some of the flowers from it to create the embellishments. I added a piece of vintage flocked ribbon (from a Silver Bella swap last year) and bits of rose ribbon. Love the look of this one.
And here's my other great-grandmother on my dad's side of the family, Arbelle. Better known as "Belle". For this layout I used a vintage photo album page to frame my picture. I mixed Authentique paper and a tag with a piece of old wallpaper and some vintage laces to finish this one. I love that the daisies on her dress work so well with the lace.
Last but certainly not least is this layout of my Mom, done on an old record album page... the whole cutout is the perfect frame. I used some of the new "Uncommon" line from Authentique and added a collection of Victorian era scrap, some old tulle and fabrics and a wooden butterfly from KaiserKraft. Love this one!!!
On a completely different subject... there are still some spots left for Art on a LImb. So, if you are interested check out the link for more info.
These are beautiful!! Thanks for the inspiration for me to do something with my old vintage family photos. I love the vintage look too. Actually, I like all sorts of 'looks'... lol... it's all fun!
